Tamil Nadu Home Guards Welfare Benevolent Fund Rules provide for Welfare measures to Home Guards. The sources of the above funds are as follows:-

  • Rs.12/- per year per Home Guard has to be collected as Subscription.
  • The subscription collected in the unit has to be remitted to Directorate every month.
  • Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu are contributing equally to the Benevolent Fund at the rate of Rs.7.50 per Home Guard per year.
  • Voluntary payments can be received from members of the Home Guards or donations from Central or State Governments, Public Sector Under-takings or nationalized banks.

Objectives of the fund:-

To provide financial assistance to the Home Guards and their dependents for the following purposes.

  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.3,000/- to the dependents of the deceased members who die while on duty.
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.1,500/- to the injured or disabled members of the Home Guards who get injured or disabled while on duty.
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs. 1,000/- to the member of the Home Guards in distress situation while on duty.
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.300/- to the children of the deceased or disabled members of the Home Guards for educational purposes upto a maximum of two children upto school level.
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.1,600/- to the children of the deceased or disabled members of the Home Guards for educational purposes upto a maximum of two children upto college level.33
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.2,500/- for marriage of daughter of deceased or disabled members of the Home Guards who died or got disabled while on duty.
  • One time Lumpsum Grant of Rs.2,000/- for the purpose of purchasing of machines for self employment to the widows, family of deceased or disabled members of the Home Guards for their livelihood in deserving cases.
  • To provide funds for
    • Welfare activities
    • Training Centres
    • Recreation
    • Cultural and educational activities and
    • To promote sports.

Administered by a Managing Committee constituted by the Government with Director General of Police and Commandant General as Chairman.
